Video game leaker Klobrille, who accurately leaked Microsoft’s E3 2016 press conference weeks before the show, has suggested that Halo 6 will have a “really high player count.” This could mean any number of things, but one possibility is that it could see Halo 6 adopt a PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds-like battle royale mode, which typically features up to 100 players at a time.

It would make sense for Halo 6 to cash in on the battle royale craze. PUBG is currently enjoying unprecedented success, and we’ve already seen other shooters change course and follow suit, including the likes of Fortnite and Paladins: Champions of the Realm. As battle royale games continue to grow in popularity, it wouldn’t be surprising to see many big franchises attempt to emulate PUBG’s success.

However, Halo 6 having a high player count could simply mean that it will support more players than the 24 that can play Halo 5’s Warzone mode. If so, it seems likely that it would up the count to a number other shooters have pulled off on Xbox One, like Battlefield’s 64 player count, for example.

While Halo 6 supporting a higher player count than past games in the series does sound exciting, fans should keep in mind that this is unverified information. It’s true that Klobrille has accurately leaked information about Microsoft in the past, but it’s possible that he is making this up. So it’s important to take this information with a massive grain of salt until 343 Industries or Microsoft decide to reveal more information about the game.

In the meantime, there are some things we do know about Halo 6. For example, we know that it will have split-screen, it will feature  more Master Chief in the campaign than Halo 5, and Phil Spencer has teased that it will also release for PC. Hopefully even more information on the game comes later this year.

Halo 6 is in development for Xbox One.
