Those that have read up on Elden Ring’s lore will know of Rykard’s intriguing origin story, which is inherently tied to the iconic Volcano Manor. The son of Rennala and Radagon, Rykard’s insanity and his decision to rebel against the Erdtree saw him sacrificing himself to the God-Devouring Serpent, merging with the beast so that he would have the power to eat the gods of the Lands Between. With his wife Tanith feeding him the bodies of strong Tarnished hunters so that he can get stronger, Rykard is a very powerful and large foe when players encounter him.

Given his absurd size and the unique concept of a human being mixed with a serpent, it is no wonder that some members of the Elden Ring community have taken interest in Rykard’s anatomy. Twitter user @Emma_The_Ward provided the answers to any of the questions gamers may have had, creating a complex anatomy chart of the monstrous Rykard. While the chart was gorgeous when it was originally made, it became more informative and intriguing once labels were added, as gamers can get a close look at the many body parts of the Lord of Blasphemy.

The amount of detail on the piece is incredible, as the artist includes texture work for every single part of the human-serpent hybrid. Seeing Rykard’s skull near the snake’s venom gland is certainly memorable, as are the many bones that span the creature’s long body. While getting an idea of where things like the liver and heart would be placed is both neat and gross, the most eye-catching part of the artwork is Rykard’s arms. A reminder that Rykard is still part human, seeing a mostly normal humerus and radius so close to a snake’s tail is shocking.

The piece makes an already disturbing Elden Ring design seem even more unsettling due to the look inside the snake. With the original post, the artist received a well-deserved 18,000 upvotes, and a vast majority of the comments praise @Emma_The_Ward for their efforts or thanked them for sharing their work. Others, like @Ashen_Pasta, pointed out how much the artist’s wrists must have hurt after adding so many intricacies to the chart.

Much like the video showing Elden Ring’s bosses without armor, this image provides a new perspective on Rykard. Next time players battle the God-Devouring Serpent, perhaps they will notice the details pointed out in this piece of fan art.

Elden Ring is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
