As it turns out, Winkler, now 69, is a burgeoning Shockers fan thanks to screenwriter Theodore Bressman, a diehard Shockers fan who is friends with Winkler’s son Max and has watched the opening weekend of March Madness at the Winkler household, according to ESPN.com.

Head coach Gregg Marshall spoke with Sporting News on Tuesday morning, and is more than happy to have “The Fonz” onboard.

“That’s fantastic. That was one of my favorite shows as a kid, Happy Days, Marshall said. “We would watch it as a family. I also like the movie that he was in with Michael Keaton, Night Shift. So he’s very welcome on the Shocker bandwagon, and hopefully the Fonz can help us get a couple more victories this weekend by rooting hard for the Shockers.”

The No. 7 seed Shockers take on No. 3 seed Notre Dame on Thursday at 7:15 p.m., with the winner advancing to the Elite Eight to face the winner of No. 1 seed Kentucky vs. No. 5 seed West Virginia.

With “The Fonz” on the bandwagon, the Shockers are just too cool to lose.
